Chairmans statement: Aliyes Hassan

Aliyes Hassan, Chairman of Knowsley Development Trust gave a passionate and committed speech about KDT on the evening of 24th July 2009 when KDT was presented with the Queens Award for Sustainable Development.

Aliyes was actually the first tenant of North Mersey Business Centre, his company Isocal Ltd Specialises in electronics and has a wide range of customers ranging from small and medium sized businesses from public limited companies and health organisations.

Aliyes joined the board in 1998 when KDT underwent a reconstitution and took over as chairman a couple of years later when Steve Dumbell stood down to take up the role of Chief Executive.

Aliyes points to the sterling work of KDT and its two sister organisations Your Travel Borough Wide and Knowsley Enterprise Academy, which he is also Chairman of. Aliyes is extremely motivated and dedicates his time and energy without any remuneration.

Speaking about their work Aliyes commentated that there were two groups of people who benefit from this work, those who are easily identified and the many thousands who may have derived a secondary benefit such as gaining employment skills via KEA, being able to access services via Your Travel Borough Wide, or those who have gained employment with one of the existing or past tenants.

The trust of KDTs efforts in the future will be to continue to pioneer new and innovative approaches so that more and more people can gain from your support.
