What is a CRB check
A CRB check is a process undertaken by the Criminal Records Bureau that provides a report to confirm that someone has no criminal convictions or has some convictions whichever the case may be. Some employers are required to use the CRB for all staff. Organisations that use volunteers often require their volunteers to make an application for a CRB check.
The report will provide the employer or volunteer organisation with an opportunity to assess whether any convictions might have an impact on their delivery of a particular service.
Obviously, the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 prevents employers from discriminating against someone with a spent conviction. Further details can be found on www.crb.gov.uk.
